Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) bathing in water. A hippopotamus can live up to 50 years. They measure 3.4 metres long, 1.5 metres tall and can weigh up to 3200 kilograms. Their main source of food is short grass on which they graze. They are excellent swimmers and can travel at a speed of 8 kilometres per hour.
